In Louisiana, certified educators need a bachelor’s degree that includes teacher preparation training. These programs, often a bachelor’s in education or teaching, generally take four years.
Level 1 Professional Certificate: This is the entry-level certification, and is what all first-time teachers should work towards earning. It is valid for three years and can be renewed only once. While you hold it you will need to work towards earning your Level 2 Certificate.
