Everything you need to know about MTEL Certification Exams
The purpose of the Massachusetts Test for Licensure, or MTEL, is to measure whether your knowledge and skills are sufficient to become an educator in the state of Massachusetts.
The field of study you want to obtain your license in will determine which MTEL exams you’ll need to take. You can find more information on which exam you need to take in this 240 article.
First, you’ll need to have a MEPID number before you can register. After you have ensured that you have a MEPID number, you can begin the registration process. You can log in or create a new account on the MTEL website.
Each MTEL exam has a passing score that is converted into a scaled score to provide consistency among all of the exams. You must receive a minimum scaled score of 240 to receive a passing score.
If you fail your MTEL exam, you can retake your MTEL test as many times as you need until you receive a passing score. To retake an MTEL exam, you will need to register for it again and pay the test fee.
Most MTEL exams cost $139, with the exception of a few. Be sure to check the MTEL test website to check the price for your specific exam.
