ILTS stands for the Illinois Licensure Testing System. Pearson creates and administers the ILTS exams. The ILTS exams are all of the exams that an educator can take in Illinois to become certified.
The ILTS tests are categorized by grade level and then by subject. For prospective elementary school teachers, there is one test that covers many subjects. For prospective middle school and high school teachers, the ILTS test you take depends on which subjects you wish to teach.
You can register for your ILTS exam online on the ILTS website. Once you create an account you will us these steps to register for your test.
ILTS scores are reported within a range of 100 to 300. A score of 240 is passing. Your raw score is converted to the scaled score so that everyone is kept on the same playing field.
If you fail an ILTS exam, you may retake it as many times as needed. Each attempt requires you to complete the registration process and pay the test fee. If there is more than one subtest in an ILTS exam, you will need to retake all the subtests.
The registration fee for most ILTS exams is $122. There are a few exceptions to this, so be sure to check the ILTS website for more information on how much your specific exam will cost.
