Our curriculum team studies all of the standards and competencies for the Praxis® exam and cross-references them with the current and previous questions released by the official testing company. We then work with content and teaching experts to distill down what test-takers need to know. No matter where you are in the study guide, you can always see how the concept you are learning is aligned to the test standards.
We’ve taken the guesswork out of what to study. Our guides are aligned to the exact standards of the official Praxis® exam and structured so you build on the concepts you need to know. Use the “search” feature to see where any particular standard appears within the guide.
Study Guides are organized into learning modules and then smaller sections that include instructional content and videos, flash cards, and quizzes. Explanations are provided for each of the choices, so you understand why an answer is correct.
Each study guide comes equipped with full-length practice tests. Full of authentic and test-aligned questions, these practice tests mimic the test day experience to ensure you arrive on test day ready to pass!
56 questions, 85 minutes.
This test can be taken as part of the Praxis Core 5752 or on its own. If you take all three subtests in one session (5752), you will have 5 hours. Each subtest is separately timed.
There are no limits on how many times you can take the test before you pass; however, you do have to wait 28 days between testing attempts.
In most cases, only one form of primary ID is needed containing your name, photograph, and a signature. Click here for more info.
Tests are by appointment only, year-round. Click here to find a testing site near you.
The passing score for each subtest varies by state. Some tests allow you to view unofficial scores right away; otherwise, official scores will be available online 10-16 business days after your test date. Read more about when you will get your Praxis scores.

The Praxis®️ Core is graded on a curve. Each question you answer correctly is worth one “raw” point. So all the questions you answer correctly equals your “raw” score. Your “raw” score is then scaled- which means that ETS looks at how everyone else answered the same questions and then “scales” your score.
This means that if you have an easy set of questions that you and everyone else scores very high on, the test will “scale” your score so that the passing percentage is equal (or fair) for people who get harder test questions.
This test does not include a scheduled break. If you choose to take an unscheduled break, your test clock will not stop, so it’s recommended that you use the restroom before or after your test. Long breaks are documented by test administrators, so do not take more than 5 to 10 minutes.
To pass the Praxis® Core, you must first understand what is on the exam and what you will be expected to know. The best way is to review the 240 Tutoring test breakdown materials and practice questions. Once you identify areas of weakness, you can begin targeting those areas with instructional content and practice questions.
The Praxis®️ Core can be difficult for a majority of test-takers. In general, if you do not meet the exemption requirements for your state, you should spend a significant amount of time preparing.
