A passing score is a 220 per subtest; you must pass subtests I and II to pass the test

Break policies vary depending on the exam you are taking. If your exam includes a scheduled break, instructions will appear on the computer screen at the appropriate time and will indicate how long of a break is allowed.
To pass the NES® Essential Academic Skills Subtest II: Writing exam, you must first understand what is on the exam and what you will be expected to know. Once you identify areas of weakness, you can begin targeting those areas with instructional content and practice questions.
The full test takes 1 hour and 30 minutes, but expect to be at the testing site longer. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your appointment time to get checked in.
