For additional information, visit our Professional Education Test  resource page.

What is a Passing Score on the Professional Education Test?

All FTCE exams use a scaled scoring system as opposed to percentage scores. A passing score for the Professional Education Test is a scaled score of at least 200.

How Hard is the Professional Education Test?

The passing rate for this exam varies from year to year but is typically around 75%. This means one out of four candidates fails this exam! This may sound alarming, but with the right preparation materials, you can go into your exam with the knowledge and confidence needed to pass.

How Do You Pass the Professional Education Test?

To get a passing score of 200, you’ll need to answer at least 71 of the 100 questions correctly. Due to the scaled scoring system, this number may be slightly lower for different versions of the exam, but it gives you a goal to work towards. The best way to reach this passing score is by creating a study plan and sticking to it!

What Are the Best Resources to Use to Pass the Professional Education Test?

The best resources for passing the Professional Education Test are ones that are reliable, up-to-date, and easy to understand. The study material created by 240 Tutoring meets all of those qualifications! We have several free resources for the Professional Education Test, including an exam overview, a timed practice test with a score report, and articles covering FTCE exam costs and scores.

Another source for accurate information regarding the Professional Education Test is the FTCE website. The testing company provides resources to help you prepare for your exam, including sample questions and a list of exam competencies. However, these resources can sometimes be cumbersome and difficult to work through, so many test-takers prefer to use a study guide instead.

When Should You Start Studying for the Professional Education Test?

Study time will vary from person to person, but most test-takers find that they need to study for at least several weeks leading up to their exam. Start by taking a practice test to determine your areas of weakness. Next, use this information to create a detailed schedule of when you’ll study each topic. Be realistic with yourself regarding how much time you can dedicate to studying each week, and allow yourself plenty of time to cover all of the material. Using our study guide can help you cover the material in reasonable sections, making it less overwhelming to prepare for your exam.

What if You Fail the Professional Education Test?

While no one wants to fail their exam, the good news is that you can retake the Professional Education Test if you don’t pass. However, you will have to pay the $150 testing fee again and wait 31 days from your last exam attempt.

It can be reassuring to know that you can retake your Professional Education Test if needed, but keep in mind that any exam retakes will be costly and time-consuming. Use our FTCE resources to make sure you are fully prepared for your first exam attempt.

How Do You Interpret Your Professional Education Score Report?

Most testing sites will give you an unofficial pass/fail status immediately after your exam, but it will take up to four weeks for your official report. Your Professional Education Score Report will indicate “pass” or “not pass.”

If your report shows that you passed – congratulations! You’re one step closer to becoming a Florida teacher.

If your report shows that you did not pass, you will see a numerical score showing how you performed on the overall exam. You will also receive a performance analysis report that shows how well you did on individual exam competencies. This can help you study for your exam retake, as you’ll want to focus on the competencies that you scored the lowest on.

If you pass the exam, you won’t get a numerical score or performance analysis, so don’t worry if these aren’t included in your report.
