There are no limits on how many times you can take the test before you pass — however, you have to wait 31 days between testing attempts.

You must score at least a 200 on each subtest in order to pass the exam.
This exam uses a scaled score, meaning it doesn’t correspond to an exact percentage of correctly answered questions. Passing percentages can vary slightly from one exam to another based on the questions included in each new administration. The test makers use a scaled score system to ensure that the scoring of the exams is fair even when the questions change.
Generally speaking, you can expect to receive a passing score if you answer at least 70% of the questions correctly.

Take a Practice TestTo pass the FTCE Elementary Education K-6: Language Arts and Reading (601) test, you must first understand what is on the exam and what you will be expected to know. When you get to the testing site, expect to have your identification checked, your photo taken, your palm scanned, your eyeglasses checked, and to place your belongings in a secure storage space. You will be given an erasable notepad and pen. Before starting the test, you’ll have to complete a short tutorial and sign an agreement.
If you take 3 or more subtests in a single session, you will receive a 15-minute break.
According to the 2020 Annual Administration and Technical Report the passing rate for the Language Arts and Reading (601) exam was 54% in 2020.
The full test itself is 1 hour, and 5 minutes, but expect to be at the testing site longer. It takes time to get checked in and get started. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your appointment time.
