Blackboard Teaching vectors

Are you wondering about the costs of the MTEL exams? Maybe you’re worried about passing and wanting to know what happens if you fail. You might be curious about how many attempts you have to pass your MTEL exam. If these are some of your questions, you’re in luck! We’re here to help you better understand the costs of each exam. We’ll also talk about how many times you can retake an MTEL exam and what happens if you fail.

So let’s get started!

How Much Does It Cost to Take an MTEL Exam?

Most MTEL exams cost $139, with the exception of a few. Let’s take a look at the costs of those MTEL exams.

The MTEL Communication and Literacy Skills and the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills tests have two testing options. You can take each subtest individually or take the combined test and save on costs. If you choose to take the subtests separately, the Reading subtest costs $76 and the Writing subtest costs $85. Both subtests combined cost $112.

The MTEL General Curriculum exam also has two testing options. The Mathematics subtest costs $94 and Multi-subject subtest costs $94. If you choose to take both subtests it costs $139.

The MTEL Sheltered English Immersion exam costs $166.

You can find more testing information and MTEL exam costs on the MTEL website.

How Many Attempts Do You Get to Pass an MTEL Test?

No one wants to fail their MTEL exam, but if you do there’s good news:

The good news is that you can retake your MTEL test as many times as you need until you receive a passing score. To retake an MTEL exam, you will need to register for it again and pay the test fee.

There is a 45-day waiting period you’ll need to wait before retesting. When you register for the exam, make sure to schedule it at least 45 days after the original test date. While you wait to retest, you’ll want to study for your MTEL exam. Using a prepared MTEL Study Guide is one of the best resources to help you pass your MTEL exam!

What Happens if You Fail an MTEL Test?

No one plans to fail their MTEL exam, but you’ll want to be prepared if you do.

The first step is making sure you have a study guide to help you learn the content for your MTEL exam. 240 Tutoring has an MTEL Study Guide for you! Each study guide is aligned with a specific test so you can be confident that you are studying the right content.

Each study guide comes with the 240 Tutoring Guarantee: if you earn a 90% or higher on the full-length practice test and are unsuccessful on the exam, 240 Tutoring will provide a refund for up to two months of your subscription!

Are There Any Other Costs Associated With Taking an MTEL Test?

You’ll want to make sure you’re prepared for any other costs of an MTEL exam.

Before you can register and view any other registration costs, you’ll need to obtain a MEPID number. A MEPID number does not cost you anything, but as of October 18, 2016, all candidates registering to take an MTEL exam must have a MEPID number.

Another cost associated with taking an MTEL is a test-aligned study guide. Purchasing a study guide will actually save you time and money because it makes it much less likely that you’ll need to retake the exam. Check out how the 240 Tutoring study guides work and get started studying today.

Hopefully, we’ve answered all your questions about the costs of the MTEL exams and given you some more information to help you pass your MTEL exam!
