We’ll answer those questions, as well as questions about what kind of ID you’ll need on test day. We’ll give you some tips for the day of your GACE exam and give you information about using calculators and formula sheets. We will also talk about what happens if you fail and how long you’ll have to wait to retake an exam.

How do you register for a GACE exam?

We want to make sure you have everything you need to register for your GACE exam. After you have obtained testing approval you’re ready to start the registration process.

You can find more information about getting ready to test on the ETS website. You can also find information on GACE testing centers.

There are two ways to register, either online or by phone.

Steps for online registration:

  1. Create a MyPSC account and select your reason for testing. You will then be given a GA CERT ID to be used during the registration process.
  2. Log into your GACE account. You’ll need to create a testing account if you do not have one. The tests you are approved to take will be listed.
  3. You will be required to enter your GA CERT ID, full name, date of birth, and social security number.
  4. You can choose up to three score recipients to receive your scores. (This cost is covered in the testing fee).

Steps for registering by phone:

Call 1-855-225-7178. You can call Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

You must be the person to call; no one else will be allowed to register for you.

How much does it cost to register for a GACE exam?

You’ll want to be aware of any testing fees for the exam. Let’s look at how much it costs to take a GACE exam so you’re prepared.

Do you need an ID to take a GACE exam?

You will not be allowed to take your GACE exam without the proper identification.

It is important to make sure you bring your ID with you on test day. The name on your ID needs to match the name on your admission ticket.

Any updates to your information needs to be made through the MyPSC website by logging into your account.

If you have had a name change since the time you registered for your exam make sure you read the recent name change information.

What kind of ID do you need for the GACE test?

Since you will not be able to test without the proper identification you’ll want to be sure you have the right kind of ID for your GACE exam.

You will need to bring an original, valid, government-issued ID that includes your full name, photograph, and signature. It is recommended that you bring two forms of accepted identification.

Accepted forms of ID are a passport, driver’s license, state or province ID card, national ID card, and military ID card.

What are some day-of-test tips for a GACE test?

No one wants to forget anything on test day, so we’re here to help you be prepared on the day of your GACE exam.

Verify your testing location, date, and time 24 hours before your test. You must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your testing appointment.

Make sure you print your admission ticket and bring a valid ID that includes your name, photograph, and signature.

Dress comfortably and be prepared for warm or cool temperatures inside the testing center. The ASLPI has specific recommendations on what to wear on the ETS test day page.

Some GACE exams provide an on-screen calculator or reference sheet to be used on your exam. You will not be allowed to bring your own calculator or any reference documents of your own.

Do you get a formula sheet on a GACE exam?

Some GACE exams provide you with a formula sheet during your exam. It is most commonly referred to as a reference sheet.

Reference documents are provided for the GACE Chemistry, Mathematics, Middle Grades Science, Physics, Science, and Special Education Mathematics and Science assessments.

These assessments will automatically provide you with these documents on your online test. You will not be able to bring your own documents with you.

Do you get a calculator on a GACE exam?

Do you know whether you’ll be able to bring or use a calculator on your GACE exam?

Some exams allow you to use a calculator on the exam. An on-screen calculator will be provided for you if your exam allows you to use one. You will not be allowed to bring your own calculator.

The Middle Grades Mathematics and Mathematics Test 1, Test 2, and combined tests allow you to use an on-screen graphing calculator.

An on-screen scientific calculator will be provided for the Special Education Mathematics and Science exams.

You can use the tutorial to practice using the on-screen calculator before your testing day.

What happens if you fail a GACE exam?

No one is expecting to fail a GACE exam but we’re here to help you if you do fail.

The good news is that you can retake a GACE exam! You’ll want to make sure you have a study guide to help you pass when you retest. You’ll want a study guide that provides you with practice tests, questions, and in-depth study materials.

Can you retake a GACE exam?

Wondering if you’re able to retake a GACE exam? The answer is yes!

If you need to retake your GACE exam, you’ll need a study guide to help you pass.

How long do you have to wait before you can retake a GACE exam?

Are you needing to retake your GACE exam?

Once you have taken an exam you’ll need to wait 28 to 30 calendar days before testing again.

All GACE exams have a 30-day waiting period except for the Paraprofessional exam, which has a 28-day waiting period after testing.

If you do not wait the required amount of time your test scores could be cancelled.

While you’re waiting to retest make sure you have access to a GACE Study Guide to help you pass your exam.

Are there any other registration details you should know?

Last, we’ll look at any other registration details you’ll need to know before registering for your GACE exam.

You must register for your exam two full days before your testing day. You must register for the ASLPI four weeks before your testing date.

If you need to change or cancel your registration you will need to make changes at least three days before your testing appointment. You will be charged a $25 processing fee for making any changes to your registration. If you cancel, you’ll receive a refund of 50 percent of your testing fee as long as you cancel at least three days before your testing appointment. You must receive testing approval before you register for any exam.
