How the Exam is Scored

The total raw score for the exam is calculated by summing up the total number of questions you answered correctly on the exam and the score(s) on the constructed-response questions. Understanding Your Score Report

Your Praxis Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects (5001) score report will include:

  • your score
  • whether you passed, based on the score recipients you selected
  • the range of possible scores
  • the raw points available in each content category
  • the range of the middle 50% of scores on that test

Your score report is broken down into the three sections:

Section 1 includes:

  • The name of the exam you took along with the test number
  • Your test score compared to the average performance range (average of all test takers)
  • Whether or not you passed or failed the exam.
  • Any schools or state agencies your score was sent to. If you see a plus sign (+) after your pass/fail status that means your score has been reported to those schools/agencies.

Section 2 includes:

  • The school or agency that received your score
  • The test you took & your highest score
  • The state’s score requirement
  • Whether you passed the exam or not
  • The date you took the exam

Section 3 includes:

  • The test name and the categories on the test
  • The number of questions you answered correctly for each category
  • The average performance range for each category (the average score for all test takers on each category).

Retaking the Exam

If you don’t pass the Praxis Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects (5001) exam you can retake the test. However, you must wait 28 days before you can retest.
