What is the Praxis Teaching Reading: Elementary (5205) Passing Score?
The Praxis Teaching Reading: Elementary (5205) exam consists of 90 multiple choice questions and 3 written responses, and you must achieve a scaled score of 159 to pass in most states.
How is the Praxis 5205 Exam Scored?
The exam is a scaled score test. Each question on the exam is worth 1 raw point, but at the end of the exam, all raw points are added together and then scaled for the test version difficulty. You can see exams and their average median scores in this document.
Each constructed-response (i.e. written response) question is scored by trained, supervised scorers who follow strict scoring procedures. Written responses to each question are read and scored by two or more qualified scorers specifically trained to score the responses to that question. Scorers assign ratings based on a scale developed for that test by educators who are specialists in the subject area.
When Will I Get My Score?
For multiple-choice exams, test takers should be able to view their unofficial score immediately after testing. However, the official score report (or written portion scores) could take over a month for delivery. For projected delivery dates from specific exams, check the Praxis website.
How Do I Understand My Score Report?
Your report will show you which areas you did well in, and which ones may need work. Take careful note and adjust your study habits if you require a retake of the exam.
What if I Need to Retake the Praxis Teaching Reading: Elementary (5205) Exam?
If you happen to fail the exam, don’t fret, it happens all the time. To retake the exam, you will just need to wait 28 days and pay the exam fee again. No problem! There is no limit to how many times you can retake the exam. Candidates whose scores were canceled for dishonorable reasons (plagiarism, cheating, etc.) may be barred from retaking the exam.
