The OAE Elementary Education exam can also be difficult for test-takers due to the technical vocabulary used on the exam. Thus, test-takers should review academic vocabulary used at the elementary level, such as phonological awareness, syntax, pragmatics, alphabetic principle, schema, etc. Test-takers who struggle with this terminology would be greatly benefitted by increasing their familiarity with it. 240Tutoring study guides are designed to focus on important concepts and technical vocabulary to ensure readiness for the exam.

When taking the test, remember that many questions are asked. Pace yourself through the test and do not get discouraged if a few difficult questions arise. Read all questions carefully. Begin by eliminating obviously incorrect answers, then evaluate the remaining options to determine the best answer. The goal is not a perfect score, but a score of 220 or higher. Keeping a positive attitude before and during the exam is very important for success. In the words of Henry Ford, “whether you think that you can, or that you can’t, you are usually right.”
